I liked this receiver well enough that over the next few years, I added a JVC CD changer and dual-well cassette deck to round out my system and have been generally pleased with the whole lot. It's not 5.1 Dolby, but it's much richer than that of the TV speakers and it doesn't have the obnoxious, exaggerated rumble of a subwoofer. I use this receiver for music as well as the audio for my TV set. Its 80 watts of power (20 per channel with four speakers connected) is relatively clean and distortion-free unless I turn on the simulated surround sound, which is kind of a joke as it just introduces unnecessary distortion.
